BARBRE KNOWS WATER

Brett R. Barbre, a resident of Yorba Linda since 1969, knows water.

First elected to the Board of Directors of the Yorba Linda Water District from 1998 to 2000, Barbre was was later elected to the Board of Directors of the Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) in 2000. He was re-elected in 2002 by a similar margin and was unanimously re-elected in 2006 and 2010.

In 2009, Barbre was appointed to the 38-member Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and has been a champion of pension reform by leading the efforts to establish an irrevocable Other Post-Employment Benefits (OPEB) trust fund to pay down the benefits awarded in years past but were not funded.

From 2017 to 2022, Barbre served on the professional staff of the Yorba Linda Water District (YLWD), the premier water and sewer agency in North Orange County, serving as the Assistant General Manager and General Manager, where he implemented strong fiscal policies, fire hardened District facilities, implemented the “YLWD Standard” and more!
